One of the most exciting and mesmerizing beaches of Kerala, the Kappad beach is located a mere 16 kms from the district of Kozhikode. Fascinating not only in looks, the beach also has an enthralling tale attached to its history. It is believed that Vasco Da Gama after traveling around the coast of Africa by ship landed on the Kappad beach on 27th May 1498 along with 170 men in 3 vessels. His arrival opened up sea route for trade between Europe, India and Malabar and this soon became the gateway of east.
