Kovalam Beach
Lying at a distance of just 10 kms from the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram, Kovalam is beach of International Repute and is the most visited beach in Kerala, South India. Situated on the Malabar Coast along the 600-kilometer length of Kerala Shoreline, the beach has been a favorite haunt for tourists, especially Europeans since the 1930's, and continues to be even today.
Kovalam is home to three adjacent crescent beaches, separated by rocky promontories. The Light House Beach lies at the southern extreme and is the most popular one out of three. The beach is lined with cafes and restaurants offering luscious delicacies with the seafood topping the charts and attracting large number of tourists throughout the year. Further south beyond the Light House, is the small village of Vizhinjam, a major fishing centre having a beach of its own. The northernmost beach is the Samudra, sprinkled with traditional fishing boats and is least affected by the changing times. In between lies the Hawah or the Eve's beach.
The Kovalam Beach witnesses huge crowds throughout the year and then is one of the most clean and well-maintained beach in Kerala. Due to its locational advantage, all the people visiting the beach can also tour the nearby capital city of Thiruvananthapuram.
